Everybody’s Got Somebody to Thank

Everybody’s Got Somebody to Thank

I love music – all kinds and types; lately, I have mostly been listing to folk and country. On a recent trip to Atlanta, while riding the train to my hotel, I let Apple choose my music by selecting the icon “music for you.”

Then, Apple gave me a gift – “Somebody to Thank,” by Logan Mize.

The song reminds us that everyone has somebody to be thankful for:

I gotta thank a high school teacher
For believing in a dreamer
And steering me down the road . . .

I gotta thank momma and my daddy
For eighteen years them gassing up the Chevrolet tank
No matter who you are everybody’s got somebody to thank . . .

I gotta thank an old coon dog for licking my hand
On days I was feeling alone . . .

I gotta thank the love of my life
Every day and night
For filling up my memory bank . . .

So, naturally enough, I started thinking – who should I be thankful for?

My mom and dad, for everything they’ve done for me, for their love and support for the last 50 years.

My wife Jennifer, for 24 years together, through the highs and the lows, for better and worse, for all the love and memories we have shared together.

Our beloved daughter, Meghan, for the opportunity to be part of her growth over the past 18 years, from the baby we brought home to the achieving young lady she has become.

My Uncle Bill, who passed away in July of 2015, who had the biggest heart in the world, and who was always there for me.

Our family dog, Eleanor Rigby (Ellie), for always being excited and delighted to see me at the end of the day.

Who are you thankful for?

Next week, we will talk about gratitude – stay tuned!

We’d love to know your thoughts. Click here to email me directly.

Until next Wednesday –

Peace,

Eric
