Hope Springs Eternal

Hope Springs Eternal

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast:

Man never is, but always to be blest.

The soul, uneasy, and confin’d from home,

Rests and expatiates in a life to come.”

Alexander Pope

The warm weather of this past weekend got me thinking of spring, and the hope it promises. So, I started thinking about hope, and what hope means to human beings.

Hope is more than a feeling. Hope promotes optimism, encourages us to work toward achieving goals, aids in healing, provides a sense of purpose.

We share hope with others when we reach out to assist them in difficult times. In recent years, as South Louisiana has experienced flooding, private boat owners came together as the “Cajun Navy,” rescuing those stranded in flooded areas. We’ve seen similar outreach in Texas, and elsewhere – people coming together to help one another in times of great tribulation.

Hope, in fact, is a survival tool for the human race.

But false hope can work against you. False hope is “whistling in the dark,” based upon fantasy, faulty assumptions, and/or inaccurate information. Without a plan, without implementation, such “hope” is no more than a wish.

In management and financial consulting, we aspire to help others, to provide them with hope that is soundly built. First, we listen to our client, to identify the specific issue of concern. Second, we calmly assess the situation. Third, we develop a strategy in collaboration with our client. Finally, we assist our client in implementing the strategy. And we always adjust as necessary throughout each and every step of the process.

We’d love to know your thoughts. Click here to email me directly.

Until next Wednesday –

Peace,

Eric
