New Year, New Goals
I’ve been thinking – like many people, I assume – about goals for the New Year. A wishlist of everything I’d like to accomplish this year would fill a book, so I won’t list them all.
But let’s think, for a moment, about the most important goals.
I’d like to grow my empathy, to become more mindful, more charitable in both tangible and intangible ways. To listen better, to give more, to love more actively.
I hope to spend even more quality time with my family – particularly in light of the fact that our daughter, Meghan, is now in her senior year in college, and spreading her wings. (Isn’t that parenthood for you? We raise our children to be independent thinkers, to be ready to tackle the exciting process of building their own lives, and are bereft when they truly do so.)
I want to travel more in 2022, both within and outside the United States. Travel during the pandemic has had its concerns, but we’re all vaccinated and boosted now, and I hope it will become easier for everyone to explore the experiences, the knowledge, the differences travel can reveal to us, which give us a bigger world to grow in.
I want my business to continue to thrive, to develop more service lines through which to help our clients. This year has been an exciting one for our firm, and I look forward to keeping that momentum for growth in play.
I hope to ensure my team feels empowered to take appropriate action on behalf of our clients, and receives all the support from me they need.
I look forward to getting back to a more disciplined exercise regime than I have maintained lately.
And I pray that I’ll be able to meet all 2022’s challenges, whatever they may be, with grace and goodwill.
